No. 4 of Seven Things That Make a Difference

in Your Network Marketing Business

If you are in the process of building a Network Marketing Business, or considering starting one, there are skills you will need to develop and actions you will need to take to be successful in your business.

Some of these things are habits. Some of them are mindset. Others are things that you must use effectively to build a large business. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to reveal these 7 things to you.

Today, I present #4 – Personal Development

The underlying factor in all these things is a concept called “getting over the line”. Getting over the line means to develop the mindset that there is no turning back. You must have a rock-solid commitment to your business, your company, and your future so that you will never quit, no matter what challenges come up. Once you make that commitment, you must be laser focused and never turn back. You are committed to your dream and your future.

That’s getting over the line.

As a leader, you duplicate these 7 things to help the individuals in your organization develop their mindset that there is no turning back and to stay laser focused. These 7 things will dramatically increase the number of people in your group to get over that line.

They are:

1) Posture

2) Image

3) Events

4) Personal Development

5) Consistency

6) Commitment

7) Sacrifice

So, let's look at number four:

Personal Development

This is the most important habit to have in the business. It’s also the one that most new people resist. Telling someone that they need to work on themselves isn't what they want to hear. What they want to hear are prospecting techniques, how to work an autoresponder, recruiting scripts, or lead generation strategies.

Recruiting techniques are useless if you aren't the kind of person that people trust. The have to believe in and want to work with you. To be successful in our business, you have to have a certain confidence and presence.

That comes from who you are - and that comes from personal development.

The first thing we talked about in this series was posture. You can't have good posture if you don't have the right mindset.

Our business is not easy. It’s simple, but not easy.

Sometimes you will talk with skeptical people who don't understand the differences between an illegal pyramid and a legitimate Network Marketing company or business.

You train and coach many people who never have been their own business or been their own boss before. Sometimes people quit and give up on their own dreams.

You have to be UP all the time.

Challenges are growth opportunities. Setbacks are learning experiences. And, adversity is necessary for building character.

Most of us deal with something negative with in our world, our country, or our jobs.

Many of our co-workers, friends and family members can be negative. They don't mean to be, but they can't help it. What you do is very foreign to them. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, they deal with the world, our country and their jobs, just like us.

This can make it tough for us to stay positive.

You should strive to have 30 minutes of daily self-development time. Read something from a book, listening to an audio, or even medite. Doing this first thing in the morning, creates your attitude and belief for the day and determines the results you will get that day.

(If you watched or read "The Secret," this is a perfect demonstration of how the Law of Attraction works.)

Sometimes new distributors think top leaders never had anyone quit on them, that all their prospects say 'yes,' and they don’t face adversity.

The bare truth is, leaders face a lot more challenges and adversity. But, they do enough personal development work that it doesn't keep them from success. They never loose their focus. It doesn’t matter what happens, they never quit!

Personal growth is not a destination; it's an ongoing journey. It keeps your outlook positive so that negative things never outweigh the positive ones.

It’s not just about keeping you from ever wanting to quit. It is about dramatically improving the results you produce, each and every day.

If you talk with 10 people about your business on any day, you’ll get much more positive outcomes if you spent the 30 minutes before listening to an audio CD. It creates a different posture in your body, a different tone in your voice, and a different look in your eyes. It gives you a confidence and self assurance that shines through and shows you are a leader.

So, this is the fourth thing that top leaders do well that keeps them successful.

What do you think about the value of personal development now?
